A man has suffered serious chest injuries and been flown to hospital after his ute hit a tree, flipped, and came to a rest suspended in the air.

The ute was travelling towards Gympie along Sandy Crash Rd 12.40pm Friday when it veered off the road near the intersection of Anderleigh Rd.

A statement from RACQ LifeFlight revealed “the car had left the road and travelled through 50 metres of bushland before hitting a tree.”

He was flown in a critical but stable condition.

A second passenger from the ute was taken to Gympie Hospital by ambulance.
