The newly-released data shows just 291 COVID vaccines have been administered at Gympie Hospital as of Thursday, out of 15,811 jabs delivered across the SCHHS region.
With the Gympie region population recorded at 52,935 people as of June 30 estimates last year, the Gympie Hospital vaccine figure equates to a miserly 0.54 per cent to this point.
By comparison about 4.5 per cent of the total SCHHS population had so far been given the jab, with 15,811 out of a wider Sunshine Coast population measured at 340,000 according to the Census.
By the numbers the Sunshine Coast’s vaccine rollout has been low compared to other regional and metropolitan areas with similar population rates.
About 15,000 jabs have been administered at Townsville and Cairns, regions with populations of less than half that of the Coast.
Out of the Gold Coast’s Census population of 540,000 there have been more than double (31,000) the number of vaccinations compared to the Sunshine Coast area.

Sunshine Coast Local Medical Association president Dr Roger Faint said until recently his Buderim practice only had access to 50 jabs per week, which he said fell well short of targets.
Dr Faint said his practice had issued 1600 COVID vaccinations since the rollout began in March, compared to more than 2000 flu vaccines.
He said his centre had received 150 jabs last week in a sign that things were starting to ramp up.
“We are introducing COVID-only clinics with two of our GPs one day a week, just to get through the numbers,” Dr Faint told The Sunshine Coast Daily.
“But we should have been doing it sooner. There’s a long way to go and it will be very busy.”
