Dumping rubbish at Gympie region tips is about cost more, with another round of price rises at the gate, although this time the news is not all bad.
The proposed new fees are part of a full package of charges expected to be adopted at Gympie Regional Council’s general meeting on Wednesday, May 26, ahead of this year’s council budget, which will remove green waste fees.
Under the new charges, the cost of taking a car load of rubbish to Bonnick Rd and other regional tips will jump from $5.60 to $6.70, a 19 per cent increase.
A single-axle load of rubbish will now cost $20 to dump, up from $18, while a large trailer-full of waste will set residents back $41, up from $38.
The price will be even steeper for nonresidents using Gympie’s dumps.
It will now cost $10 to throw out a car load of waste (up from $9.50), while a single-axle trailer-load will cost $35 (up from $30.50) and anyone getting rid of a large trailer-load of waste can expect to pay $67 (up from $63.40).
Getting rid of green waste, on the other hand, will no longer be a burden on the wallet.
Under the proposed schedule anyone dumping up to a large trailer-load of green waste will be able to do it for free, with costs of $2.50, $9 and $16.40 all scrapped.
The free service will only apply to residents of the region.
Entry to the Gympie Aquatic Centre will increase slightly from $5.30 to $5.50 for adults, and $3.65 to $3.80 for children.
The gate fee at other council-owned pools across the region will go up from $3.25 to $3.40 for adults and $2.75 to $2.85 for children.
