A Central Queensland father of three battling drug addiction has said “I don’t really know where to turn” during his latest court appearance.

Vincent Edwin Trevithick, 38, pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on July 13 to one count of drug-driving.

The court heard that Trevithick returned positives to both methamphetamines and cannabis after he was pulled over by police on Dunn Street, Biloela, on March 31.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Carl Spargo said Trevithick had two previous drug-driving offences on his history from 2021 and 2019, as well as other drug offences, including producing dangerous drugs, on his criminal history.

Representing himself in court, Trevithick was asked by Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale what he was doing about his “significant drug offending”.

Trevithick replied: “I do need help with my drug problem. I don’t really know where to turn because I’ve been to the hospitals and that here, and there’s no counsellors here, there’s nothing really in Bilo for it.”

Ms Beckinsale urged Trevithick to have a look online to see what help was available or talk to a general practitioner.

When asked about his situation, Trevithick said he was a father of three, he was not working at the moment and he was on Newstart.

Ms Beckinsale placed him on probation for 12 months with conditions including drug testing.

Trevithick was also disqualified from driving for six months.
