Police found a hydroponic drug set-up operating in a bedroom of a Biloela house, a court has heard.

Vincent Edwin Trevithick, 37, pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on October 13 to producing cannabis, possessing drug-growing equipment and possessing drug utensils.

The court heard that on July 2, police executed a search warrant at a Biloela residence.

Trevithick was the sole occupant of the house and he declared to police that he had cannabis plants growing in a back bedroom and he said he also had a bong in a bedroom.

During a subsequent search, officers found five cannabis plants in pots, growing in a purpose-built hydroponic set-up in the corner of a bedroom.

That set-up included ducted cooling, irrigation, heat lamps and fertiliser - all being used to cultivate the cannabis plants.

The prosecution said the plants were “juvenile” plants.

Trevithick’s solicitor said Trevithick was unemployed and he had a drug history.

“There’s no commerciality alleged,” the solicitor said.

The lawyer added that Trevithick had sought professional help for his drug problem.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale fined Trevithick $750 and convictions were recorded.
