Emergency crews responded to a fully submerged ute in a flooded causeway at Yengarie, west of Maryborough early Wednesday.

The ute was seen at the flooded causeway at the intersection of Mungar and Pohlman roads.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the driver exited the vehicle before it was submerged and was safe.
After receiving the call at 9.19am, a Queensland Fire Department spokesman said the ute was found ‘fully submerged’ off the road in the flooded causeway.

The QPS spokeswoman said there were no known road closures in place.

The police spokeswoman reinforced the message “if it’s flooded, forget it”, and warned people not to attempt to walk or drive through floodwater regardless of the perceived capabilities of their vehicle.”

In a busy morning for Fraser Coast emergency services, two children were found safe after they were reportedly stuck in a drain in Maryborough following heavy rain across the entire region in the past two days.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said they received a call around 8am Wednesday about a teenage boy and another unidentified child being stuck in a drain on Dunn Street after reportedly climbing into it.
