A Fraser Coast council worker who was critically injured in a crash at Takura this week faces a “long and challenging” battle as he fights for life in hospital, according to a GoFundMe page created for his family.
Tim Lack, aged in his 30s, suffered life-threatening injuries and remained in a critical condition in Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital on Friday after a serious crash at Takura on Wednesday.
The crash happened about 10am when the Fraser Coast Regional Council truck he was driving crashed into a tree on Hornes Rd.
Mr Lack suffered serious head and leg injuries in the crash, a spokesman from the Queensland Ambulance Service said.
He was flown by Lifeflight to Brisbane in a critical condition.
The tree had to be stabilised and a door of the truck had to be removed to extricate the trapped Mr Lack, a spokeswoman from the Queensland Fire Department said.
Two crews remained at the scene in the wake of the crash, but four had initially attended, the spokeswoman said.
Mr Lack was freed by about 11.18am.
Diversions around the crash were in place for some time and motorists were advised to proceed with caution.
Fraser Coast Regional Council chief executive Ken Diehm spoke out in the wake of the crash.
“This was a very serious accident, and our thoughts and prayers are with our worker and his family during this difficult time,” he said.
“Queensland Police and Work Safe Queensland will be conducting an investigation, and we will co-operate fully with them.”
In the wake of the crash a GoFundMe page was created to help support Mr Lack’s family.
Sharna Lack said Mr Lackwas in intensive care and would need to undergo multiple surgeries.
“The road to recovery will be long and challenging,” she wrote.
“As a family that typically prefers to keep to ourselves, we find it difficult to ask for help.
“However during this incredibly tough time, we’re reaching out for your support.
“The funds raised will go directly towards supporting Tim and his family as he recovers.”
It comes after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle at Toogoom on Tuesday night. She was later identified as 39-year-old Emma Louise Wilkins.
