Excitement is building ahead of the pre-Christmas opening of the Fraser Coast’s first Anaconda store.
The outdoor adventure store will open at an $80m development on Boat Harbour Dr, Pialba will also house Spotlight and Harris Scarfe.
“We’re thrilled to enhance our local workforce by offering 30 full-time, part-time, and casual positions, inviting individuals to join our team and become adventure specialists,” regional manager Craig Edwards said.
“Our aim is to provide the Hervey Bay community with top-notch outdoor expertise.
“The grand opening of our Hervey Bay store offers the local community a new, exciting opportunity to explore an extensive array of outdoor equipment and gear, with local entertainment, ice cream, giveaways and prizes available for the whole family to enjoy.”
“Anaconda Hervey Bay will offer a broad fresh range for the outdoor adventure community, providing all the necessary equipment for weekend getaways and adventures.”
Anaconda marketing manager Shane Connors said Anaconda was “inspiring Australians to explore the outdoors, encouraging Australian families to venture into the heart of their country, immersing themselves in rich histories, and awe-inspiring natural wonders, all without breaking the bank”.
“The Hervey Bay store opening is part of Anaconda’s current growth phase, marking the halfway point in a string of seven openings across Australia within a four-month period. Queensland has the demand for additional stores, and we are proud to extend our services to new, coastal communities,” he said.
The new complex, built by SPG Developments, is being constructed in two stages.
Spotlight Group executive deputy chairman Zac Fried said the main building was expected to open just before Christmas, with a second building to open in the new year.
He said there would be nearly 450 undercover car parking spaces for customers and staff, which would be split across two levels, and traffic would enter from Hunter and Taylor Streets.
Mr Fried said the Spotlight Group had looked for “many, many years” to find the right site for the development in Hervey Bay.
