Naomi Maree Long fronted Dalby Magistrates Court for trespass at dog pound

A Western Downs mother who was asked by staff at a regional dog pound to not film on her phone was arrested after she refused the request and began abusing the volunteers in chaotic scenes. See how it unfolded.

A woman who visited a pound due to her dog being under investigation was arrested for disobeying the rules of the premises then abusing staff throughout her wild outburst.

Naomi Maree Long appeared in Dalby Magistrates Court on December 12 after police had to escort her out of a dog pound in Dalby.

Police prosecutor Derek Brady said the 37-year-old woman refused to co-operate with staff at the pound on October 19, when she visited the facility due to her dog being under investigation.

“She was told she wasn’t allowed to record or take pictures in the facility,” Sergeant Brady said.

“(Long) got her phone out to take photos and began screaming at workers and was asked to leave.”

Sergeant Brady said police were called to the pound when the mother of three continued to scream and abuse staff.

“Police gave her an opportunity to leave and warned her she was trespassing,” he said.

Defence lawyer Paige Hetherington said her client works at a hardware store in Tara and had a limited criminal history that included a charge of public nuisance in 2022 where she was fined $400 and had no conviction recorded.

Acting magistrate Andrew Walker reminded the woman she had to obey the rules of facilities upon entering.

“You have to comply whether you like that or not,” he said.

Long pleaded guilty to trespass.

She was fined $300, no conviction was recorded.
