Queenslanders gathered to celebrate 20 years of Opera at Jimbour in the Western Downs | Photos

Visitors from all over Queensland were drawn to the Western Downs this weekend to indulge in internationally renowned artists and come together to celebrate 20 years of Opera at Jimbour. See all the photos from the magical event.

Hundreds of people from all over Queensland were drawn to the rural town of Jimbour in the Western Downs to celebrate 20 years of the prestigious music event.

Opera at Jimbour for 2023 which was held May 5 - 7, and marked two decades of the event which was said to unite communities and bring fine music to regional Australia.

Opera Queensland CEO and artistic director Patrick Nolan said the team were committed to sharing the opera with its regional audiences.

“QMF and Jimbour House over many years have been integral partners in this mission,” he said.

The treasured Jimbour House first launched the opera event in 2003, and this year brought to the stage artists such as Carlos Barcenas, Alex Raineri, Sarah Crane, Shaun Brown, Paul Dean, Trish Dean, Lotte Betts-Dean, Peter Luff who were joined by Ensemble Q.

Mayor Paul McVeigh said as the event is held in partnership with Western Downs Regional Council that it was a great opportunity to tell the story of “Who we are” and showcase “The fabulous region we choose to call home”.
