Chinchilla mum celebrates birthday with $100,000 Keno Classic 8 jackpot win

A Western Downs mum who got off to a rough start on her birthday had her spirits lifted after receiving a very special gift when her lucky numbers came up at the Chinchilla RSL Club.

After hurting her back and losing her purse, a Chinchilla woman thought her birthday was just going downhill, until she scored the jackpot.

On May 20 she took home a whopping $101,938.80 from the Keno Classic 8 jackpot.

She said she could not believe it when they read out her eight special numbers.

“I won on my birthday. How amazing is that,” she said.

“I usually watch Keno closely, but this time I missed it completely. I was gobsmacked when I realised I had all eight numbers.”

When she realised she had all eight numbers she thought she won $25,000 so she was shocked when they announced the jackpot was $100,000.

“I thought he was joking! I said, ‘yeah right!’ But then he showed me, and it was real,” she said.

The lucky winner said she had almost lost hope in having a good birthday after a rough morning.

“I had a sore back, and I could hardly walk at work, then I lost my purse and thought, ‘what’s next’,” she said.

“After all that, I was contemplating doing nothing for my birthday, but my daughter pulled me down to the RSL and said, ‘come on, let’s have lunch for your birthday’.”

She’s got big plans for her $100,000.

“I’ll get some new towels, and I need some new bed sheets,” she said.

“Maybe some new tyres too. It’s truly amazing. Thank you so much!”
