Stage One of Elliott Heads South Beach development finished

Progress on a major South Beach development along Bundaberg’s popular coastline continues to steam ahead, with it celebrating a major achievement only days before Christmas.

First stages of South Beach Master Plan development to start at Elliott Heads

Developers behind the ambitious $2 billion South Beach master plan for Elliott Heads has officially ticked off a major milestone, with the first stage now finally complete only days before Christmas.

Once finished the development will mark one of the largest seaside master planned communities in the country, with a full-sized service village, retail centre, retirement resort and 2000 homes for purchase.

Ground on the project was officially broken in August 2022, with delays pushing back the completion of Stage One to December 2023.

Development Director for the project Helen Blackburn commented on the progress, commemorated by the entry statement going up on the development.

“We’ve had more delays than we would have liked, but now finally the roads are done, the landscaping and street trees are in, the footpaths are completed, and the lots are ready for home construction, pending titles,” she said.

“It’s enormously exciting to see John Manera’s 20 year dream of rehabilitating old denuded cane fields into a modern, vibrant development for the local Elliott Heads community come true.”

Builders from local companies including Buckley Brothers and JRZ Homes will soon begin the construction stage for the homes which will make up just part of the master plan project.

The lots, which average up to 850 sqm, and the homes which will be built represent the lifestyle which has been meticulously planned by developers and the entire South Beach team.

“We have spent a decade planning South Beach’s integration into the existing fabric of Elliott Heads and the natural ecosystem, with pathways, bikeways, parks, playgrounds and extensive natural landscaping,” Ms Blackburn said.

“Lots of people have boats, trailers or caravans. In most new suburbs there is no place to put them. It is one of the comments we hear all the time, and reinforces that we got the planning right.”

Ms Blackburn said the completion of Stage One established an exciting precedent for the following stages of civil works, which are already sold out.

“It’s a great moment in our history, and we can enjoy Christmas before the next goal of starting the civil works on stages two and three, which are all sold out,” she said.

South Beach will apply to council for operational works for the next 100 lots in the coming days as those behind the project look towards the future of Elliott Heads.
