PRELIMINARY site works are underway for the construction of a retail and services hub in one of Australia’s largest masterplanned seaside communities.
The 3.75ha full-service village centre at the $2 billion South Beach community at Elliott Heads near Bundaberg will include a major supermarket, medical centre, pharmacy, tavern, childcare centre, service station, recreational green areas and several specialty outlets.
Bundaberg council approves massive housing development at Elliott Heads by Stan La Vin
The joint development venture between Sydney-based Stan La Vin and the Manera family, is one of the last oceanfront projects on the 20km coastal strip from Elliott Heads to the established resort precincts of Coral Cove, Bargara and the international port township of Burnett Heads.
With an end value of between $46 million and $50 million the four-stage South Beach Village Centre will be developed by property development and investment company Triple2 Partners in conjunction with the Manera Family and La Vin and employ 220 full time workers during construction.
Over the life of the South Beach project will generate 3000 jobs in the Wide Bay region which recorded a 22.1 per cent youth unemployment rate in April.
Founder and director of Triple2 Partners Joshua Hall said the South Beach Village Centre is set to be a thriving community hub.
“The Village Centre will not only provide essential services but also deliver employment opportunities for the local community,” he said.
“We saw this unique opportunity as a no-brainer being that there is close to 6000 under- serviced residents in an 5km radius from Elliott Heads to Innes Park who don’t have immediate access to quality retail amenity.
“It’s not just the local community that will benefit. The natural beauty of Elliott Heads is a major drawcard for grey nomads and tourists alike – akin to Byron Bay in its ’70s heyday.”
South Beach is 20 minutes drive south of Bundaberg and a gateway to The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and is comprised of 3200 homesites.
