Woman faces court after bizarre ‘dare’ to steal shopping centre bathroom bin

In another incident she was caught driving while disqualified and under the influence of drugs after being pulled over for doing an illegal U-turn.

Kylene Scott faced Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday after she stole a bin from a shopping centre bathroom.

A court has heard the bizarre details of how a woman stole a bin from the toilets of a local shopping centre.

Kylene Scott pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday to three offences including stealing, driving with a relevant drug in her saliva and driving while disqualified by court.

The court heard Scott went to the Hinkler Central shopping centre in February where she took her trolley to the bathroom.

While in the bathroom, she removed rubbish from a silver bin before putting the bin in her trolley and leaving.

The bin was then reported missing and Scott was seen on CCTV with the bin in the trolley.

When she was spoken to by police, Scott told them she was dared to do it.

A few months later Scott was discovered to be driving while disqualified after being pulled over by police on April 6 when she was seen making an illegal U-turn.

She also participated in a drug test which returned a positive reading for meth, MDMA and THC.

During the intercept Scott gave officers a fake name and said she knew she was disqualified but was on her way to see her doctor.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Tina Bland told the court Scott had received probation in October for driving offences.

Scott, who was self represented, told the court she had not driven since the offence.

For the driving offences Scott was sentenced to two months imprisonment which was wholly suspended for a period of 18 months.

She was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for two years and six months and was convicted and not further punished for the stealing.

Convictions were recorded.
