A woman has been ordered to pay more than $1000 in restitution after stealing items from an adult shop, as well as clothing items from another store.

Jacquelyn Amanda Turner pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday to a number of offences including stealing.

The court heard Turner and another man went in to the Into Love adult shop in Bundaberg on November 3 last year.

Turner and the man kept their distance from each other but kept the shop attendant busy by asking questions to keep her away from the CCTV cameras in store.

The court heard the shop attendant was working on her own at the time and there were other customers in the store.

After Turner and the other person left the shop, the attendant reviewed the CCTV footage and saw a number of items had been stolen by Turner and, allegedly, the man.

The items were concealed in bags and came in at a total of $1485.

Later, on November 28, police were called by the same shop attendant at the same store when Turner and the man returned again acting suspiciously.

The shop attendant asked Turner to stay inside the store and the man had left.

When police arrived they spoke to Turner, who was wanted on an outstanding matter, and reviewed the footage from earlier that month.

On November 6 Turner went to a shopping centre in Hervey Bay where she went to Best and Less and filled up a cloth bag from the store with a number of clothing items.

The court heard the clothes came to a total of about $307.

She then went to Lowes where she took a clothing item designed for a dog valued at $15.95.

Turner was then seen at Coles, where she filled her trolley with groceries.

Staff approached an off-duty police officer telling them Turner had stolen before and believed she was about to again.

The officer alerted on-duty officers who attended and spoke with Turner in the car park.

She made admissions to taking the items.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Tina Bland told the court restitution was sought for the stealing at the adult store, but conceded because Turner was with another person she should only have to pay half.

Sergeant Bland said restitution was sought for the other items also.

Turner, who represented herself, told the court that drugs and shoplifting had both been issues for her.

She told the court that she was seeking further counselling for her issues.

Turner told the court she’d had a lot going on in her personal life and felt she did these things to “get something out of it” but didn’t know what.

She said in the last few years she had moved to Maryborough to be closer to her family but was in a domestically violent relationship and drugs came into her life.

“I just haven’t been able to get up from that,” she said.

Turner was placed on a $1000 good behaviour bond for a period of 12 months.

She was also ordered to pay a total of $1065.45 in restitution.
