Mary Rodwell discusses Bundaberg UFO video

A strange light, filmed floating over Bundaberg, has baffled locals. Now, a prominent UFO ‘expert’ and author has weighed in as the region’s long history of spooky sightings is revealed.

Mysterious object over Bundaberg

It’s not the first strange thing seen in Bundaberg’s skies and it probably won’t be the last.

Bundaberg man Brad Trotter captured an incredible image of a large, bright, “pulsating” object in the sky on Wednesday evening.

He told the NewsMail the video had been seen by ‘experts’ and was generating a lot of interest.

The object appears to change colours numerous times, from green, white, orange and red.

Other locals, including Tiarne Fitz, said they'd seen similar objects in the sky that they could not explain.

“About a month ago, the same thing was in Rockhampton, my dad and I were watching it for five or so minutes, all of a sudden it split into three and flew up into the sky and disappeared, literally exactly the same flashing light in this video,” she said.

“We have never found out what it is/was.”

Tee Jae said she’d also seen the same object, but on October 1, before storm activity in the region.

“At first I thought it was a plane in the distance but the way the green to red lights were changing and the size of it I realised it was actually only a couple of streets over flying above houses so I just assumed it was a drone but I dunno (sic) now,” she said.

A severe weather warning was in place for Bundaberg and Hervey Bay on Thursday.

Jane Chivers said she also saw a strange light over Gin Gin on Wednesday night.

“We saw a green shining sweeping light last night coming into Bundy on Gin Gin highway,” she said.

Agnes Water’s resident UFO expert and author Mary Rodwell reviewed the footage and said it was a fascinating capture.

“No doubt it's a UFO, not a star,” she said.

Widely known as ‘Unidentified Flying Objects, UFOs were now referred to as “unidentified aerial phenomenon”, or UAPs, she explained.

The region has long been a popular place for tales of paranormal activity in the sky … and in the water.

In April, a Bundaberg man claimed to have witnessed a bright object beneath the surface of the Burnett River, which a reader believed could have been a USO, an “unidentified submerged object”.

A backyard UFO sighting in the beachside suburb of Moore Park even made it to the popular Believe: Paranormal & UFO podcast.

Back in 2013 and 2015, a vast number of UFO reports were made in the region.

Retired train driver Victor Olsen was one such local who spoke about his encounters on video, talking about the night in 1967 when he claimed an alien craft hovered over the train.

Perhaps one of the eeriest and saddest reports in Bundaberg’s history dates back 50 years to when prominent MP Lindsay Hartwig attributed the sudden death of his son Graham to a UFO sighting on his property at Tellebang.

Ms Rodwell previously told the Bundaberg NewsMail that the region had been following a global trend of increasing reports of UFO activity.

“It seems like they're monitoring what’s going on the planet,” she said.
