Stabbing: Three people hurt, one seriously, in ‘altercation’

Police are investigating a stabbing near Bundaberg that left one young man with serious injuries while two others were also hurt.

A young man was been stabbed at Sharon in the Bundaberg region on Wednesday evening.

Emergency services were called to Gin Gin Rd just after 4pm on Wednesday following reports of a physical altercation between three people, that had resulted in the man in his 20s being seriously hurt.

He was rushed to hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition with stab wounds to his arm and abdomen.

Two other people, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s, were treated at the scene for minor injuries, and taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The man aged in his 60s sustained injuries to his head, while the woman suffered leg injuries.

A Queensland Ambulance Services spokesperson said there had been reports the woman in her 50s was hit by a car in the lead-up to the altercation.

A spokeswoman from Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service said on Thursday “one patient has been discharged and the other two are in stable conditions”.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
