The case of a man accused of murdering another on the NSW South Coast on Easter Sunday has been heard in court for the first time since the alleged homicide.
Stephen Walker’s murder charges were mentioned in Nowra Local Court on Tuesday, two months after he allegedly killed Dylan Gray at the intersection of Brereton St and Moss St in Nowra on April 20 about 5.45pm.
Police were called to the scene after nearby residents allegedly heard shouting and arguing, before Mr Gray was allegedly stabbed to death by Walker.
Walker was taken to Nowra Police Station, refused bail and charged with murder.
A plea is yet to be entered.
The court heard on Tuesday from Walker’s solicitor, Brett Ford, who said discussions were ongoing to determine where the case would head.
Magistrate Lisa Viney ultimately allowed a multi-week adjournment.
Walker did not apply for bail, and was therefore refused.
The court appearance comes as Mr Gray’s mother, Penny Gray, told this publication of the heartbreak she was enduring after the loss of her son.
“He loved his motorbikes, he loved his stunts, he did them well,” she said.
Ms Gray also spoke of the tragic moment she tried to save her son’s life.
“We gave him mouth to mouth but it was too late,” she said.
Walker’s case returns to Nowra Local Court on July 15.
