A well-known and respected police officer and former detective based on the NSW South Coast has fronted court as he is set to be hit with an apprehended domestic violence order.

Andrew Tyler, 49, represented himself at Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, noting an apprehended domestic violence order was to put forth by someone close to him.

Tyler, a well-known police officer and former detective in the Eurobodalla region, was however warned by Magistrate Doug Dick that charges could follow.

He said investigations into an alleged incident earlier this year were ongoing.

“This could lead to charges,” Mr Dick said.

He also completed a stint as a detective in 2012.

More to come.
