A motorcyclist who allegedly posted and boasted about an alleged 299km/h police pursuit across the Illawarra and South Coast has been charged.

Police will allege Aaron Buyink, 33, posted helmet camera footage to social media showing him evading officers and hitting the insanely high speeds on February 26 this year.

Officers first spotted Buyinkabout 5.30pm on the Wednesday afternoon following reports from the public, with the rider allegedly speeding southbound on the M1 at Dapto near Wollongong.

A pursuit was initiated shortly after further south at Albion Park, but was called off due to safety concerns as the motorcycle allegedly reached speeds of more than 200km/h.

A second chase allegedly began just before 6pm on the Princes Hwy, but again, police were forced to pull back.

Buyink was charged with a string of offences including two counts of police pursuit, reckless driving, drug possession, and failing to provide information to identify the driver.

One day after his arrest, Buyink appeared in Manly Local Court before Magistrate Robert Williams.

A bid for bail was submitted by solicitor James McLoughlin, however this was refused.

Buyink will return to the same court on June 23 where pleas are expected to be entered.
