A reader has shed light on what he thinks might have been below the surface of the Burnett River.

Does something unexplained lurk beneath the Burnett River?
One man thinks he has an explanation after a local came forward to recount his strange encounter.
The reader believes the sighting was something known as a USO, or unidentified submerged object.
“Think of it as an underwater UFO,” he said.
“Similar incident recorded at Shag Harbour in Nova Scotia in 1967. Although this time it was not seen entering the water.
“USO sightings are so common in some areas related to the water that some ship captains even intentionally divert their boats from sailing through certain areas.”
