“Any parent’s worst nightmare” is how the events have been described as a fundraiser is launched to support the family of a young woman fighting for life in a Brisbane hospital.

Mia Selby was one of five people rushed to hospital after a ute rolled “several times” along the beach at Kinkuna in the Bundaberg region shortly before midnight on Friday, June 30.

Four women – including Ms Selby – and one man, a 29-year-old who remains in a critical condition, were involved in the crash.

Ms Selby was flown to Royal Brisbane Hospital where she remains in a stable condition in a medically induced coma, the GoFundMe page states.

Since arriving, it is understood she has undergone several surgeries and is still unable to breathe on her own.

A family friend has organised the fundraiser to help the family with living and medical expenses.

“Mia has suffered extensive injuries, and will have lifelong effects,” the page read.

“With permission from Cody (Mia’s parent) I have set this up to assist them with living costs in these uncertain times to support their family.”

According to the GoFundMe, Mia has two siblings and her parents run a mechanical business.

The fundraiser has a target of $10,000 and had raised more than $1000 within one day.

“Please keep Mia in your thoughts and prayers.”

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Police have urged any witnesses to the crash, including people camping in the area or may have captured footage on their dashcams, to come forward.
