Showgirls and rural ambassadors from across the Burnett were put through their paces over the weekend to decide who would take top spot and represent at the Ekka come August.

Casey Cleary of the Mount Perry Show Society and Tylen Wallace of the Bundaberg Show Society will represent the region at the 2023 Ekka after taking out the top spots at this year's Burnett SubChamber awards.

Rural ambassadors and showgirls from across the region arrived at the Gin Gin Showgrounds on July 1, 2023 for a day of interviews, judging and presentations for the 2023 Burnett Subchamber awards.
‘A special lady’: Tributes flow for mayor’s wife
The day began with morning tea with the regions representatives getting to know each other and meet, many for the first time.
Showgirls Gina Hamilton representing the Eidsvold Show Society, Grace Eggmolesse representing the Bundaberg Show Society, Flynn Suendermann representing the Mundubbera Show Society, Isabella Mielczarek representing the Teebar Show Society, Casey Cleary representing the Mt Perry Show Society and Whitney Woodfield representing the Gin Gin Show Society met with judges for a series of interviews.
Also under the keen eye of the judges were Rural Ambassadors Tylen Wallace representing the Bundaberg Show Society, Jessica Hardy, representing the Biggenden Show Society, Shané Steffen representing the Gin Gin Show Society and Shahna-Leigh Dakin representing the Teebar Show Society.
In the evening, the showgirls and ambassadors returned to the showgrounds dressed to the nines, where Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers CEO Bree Watson was a guest speaker, alongside 2022 Burnett Subchamber Rural Ambassador Adrianna Pott.
The evening was attended by more than 80 guests, who waited with bated breath for the final winners to be announced.
Casey Cleary took out the top spot for the Showgirl role, and Tylen Wallace took out the top spot for Rural Ambassador.
The pair will represent the region and their show societies at the Royal Brisbane Show in August, vying for the position of Queensland Showgirl and Rural Ambassador.
Gina Hamilton representing Eidsvold Show Society was runner-up Showgirl and Shahna-Leigh Dakin representing Teebar Show & Sports Association was runner-up Rural Ambassador.
