A bumper crowd turned out in perfect weather for the 129th Bundaberg Show on Thursday.

Families, couples and children of all ages lined up for showbags, rides and an unprecedented variety of sideshow attractions.

“We’ve never had this many sideshow attractions, it is absolutely packed,” Bundaberg Show president Maree See said.

“The local vendors on the other side of the pavilion, it’s packed. And we’ve got a massive number of show jumpers, both local and out of town.”

Mrs See and her team of more than 70 volunteers were working around the clock to ensure the show had something for everyone.

“We’re really big area here, and we’re very agricultural; this year, we’ve got a lot of agricultural stuff,” Mrs See said.

“It’s just a nice place for people to come through and relax and have a talk to the neighbour.”

Conscious of the pressures of the cost of living crisis, organisers have ensured there are plenty of free attractions.

“We’ve put on a lot of money for free entertainment for families this year, because of the economic climate and the families are saying it’s just wonderful because it’s not costing them a fortune,” Mrs See said.

“We’ve got the pygmy goat display, and (people) are lined up about three deep because they’re just so cute,” Mrs See said.

“There’s poultry pavilions ... there’s cattle, there’s horses, there’s just heaps of things for people to go and see.”

Horse events were the main attraction at the show ring, with crowds filling the grandstand to watch all the action.

Amber Holt was named supreme champion rider of the show, with the supreme child rider going to Addison Weller.

Sheady Montana handled by Kayleen Sutton was named the supreme led mare or stallion, with Shezade Ascension handled by Ashlee Christensen winning the supreme champion gelding.
