Main Beach’s Marina Mirage precinct welcomes 12 new tenants

A popular fine dining venue specialising in artisan seafood dishes is joining a string of new retailers set to launch at one of the city’s most prestigious shopping precincts. FULL LIST

Woolworths faces supply shortages ahead of Christmas

A fine-dining seafood restaurant has shifted from its 25-seat location in one of the Gold Coast’ most bustling precincts less than 12 months after opening.

God’s of the Sea, co-owned by Warren Lucas and head chef Jon Nurminen, now calls Main Beach’s Marina Mirage, along with 12 new tenants set to revitalise the centre.

The new waterfront digs soft launched to the public on Friday at its new 80-seat site and will continue to serve a limited capacity until about mid-January.

“We’re opening half the restaurant for this period until mid to late January in the marina wing, the area in front of the kitchen,” Mr Lucas explained.

A private dining space will open early next year once its fit out is complete.

“(Nobbys) was a nice place to start, but we’re looking forward to getting into something a bit bigger. As a seafood restaurant it’s always a nice aspect and certainly been a goal to have a waterfront location,” he said.

“The demographic of our customers are either usually already living in Main Beach or in particular holiday in the Sheraton or Palazzo Versace.”

The duo, who also have two new ventures in the pipeline, including a Scandavian bakery and Main Beach jazz club, will introduce a variety of new items and services.

“We’ve introduced a wood-fired grill which our chef will cook some seafood, which adds another dimension. There’ll also be a few new dishes such as crocodile ribs and a skate schnitzel,” Mr Lucas said.

Dry-ageing cabinets, boat catering and an eventual outdoor lounge bar will also prove a treat to customers: “Everyone’s really very excited to see our new venue,” he said.

“We’re really focusing on using 100 per cent Australian ingredients for every single thing we do – all food ingredients, wine, beer and spirits.”

“We think it’s a really important focus at any time, but in particular now with what’s happening globally.”

Gods of the Sea will be joined in good company as a slew of new dining and boutiques open

It follows last month’s revelation the Mediterranean-inspired La Luna Beach Club is set to open next month early in the new year.

Marina Mirage Centre Manager Chelsea Steber said the new additions would “elevate the shopping and dining experience at Marina Mirage once again.”

“It’s encouraging to see that retailers and restaurateurs continue to choose Marina Mirage as the destination for their operations.
