ONE of Queensland’s most successful coffee companies is going back to where they started, opening a cute, neighbourhood cafe in Brisbane’s inner north.

The husband-and-wife-run Wolff Coffee Roasters will open a 2.0 version of their beloved Dandelion & Driftwood cafe in Hendra, taking over a gorgeous old timber shop just around the corner from their original eatery on Gerler Rd, which they sold in 2018.

The new cafe will sit just a bean bounce down the road from their booming main roastery and espresso bar Big Bad Wolff, but owner Penny Wolff said the two offerings would be completely different, with the new D&D to be an expanded version of the original.

“We are looking at evolving it with a full kitchen and alcohol and with high teas with an elevated offer,” she said.

While the original shop had barely enough room for coffee and a toasted sandwich, the new venue will serve a full breakfast and lunch menu, focusing on simple favourites done well.

Coffee will, of course, be a focus, with the cafe to offer a completely different mix of brews to Big Bad Wolff, including their signature Dandelion and Driftwood blends, plus single origin varieties.

The space is currently undergoing a complete refurb, with a feng shui design to bring in lots of greenery and create a cool and cosy vibe. A private dining room will be available for functions and high teas, while there’ll be a cute deck out the back for al fresco dining.

The cafe is pushing to open at the end of February, meanwhile the second Dandelion & Driftwood store at Brisbane’s International Airport isn’t scheduled to reopen until the end of next year because of COVID.
