Brisbane’s iconic Gunshop Cafe in West End to open second eatery in Brisbane’s inner west

It’s been a West End institution for more than 20 years, now the popular breakfast haunt is opening a second operation on the other side of the river.

After more than 20 years in operation, Brisbane’s iconic The Gunshop Cafe in West End is opening a second eatery in Toowong.

Taking the site of the defunct Maria Caribbean Kitchen on Jephson St, the eatery aims to fill a gap in the market in the suburb for great coffee and modern breakfasts with flair.

Operating seven days a week, it will serve the progressive, gourmet all-day breakfast fare it has built its reputation on, with the possibility of a few new twists.

Diners can expect anything from pulled pork on rye with wild mushrooms and bacon crumble to Belgian waffles with rose meringue, Persian fairy floss, macadamia praline and vanilla ice cream, while the owners say Asian favourites such as roast duck and barbecue pork could possibly even be added to the menu.

The 300sq m eatery designed by Wynnum’s Ni Design will feature an industrial, modern indoor area, bordered by floor-to-ceiling glass windows and a generous outdoor dining space. The kitchen will be open so diners can see the chefs hard at work, while there will be a central coffee bar surrounded by banquette seating and plenty of timber detailing.

Ni Design has designed a contemporary, industrial look for the new Toowong cafe.

The Gunshop Cafe Toowong is due to open on December 1.
