AFTER calling in liquidators to her Brisbane cooking school in August, Mel Alafaci looks to be turning around her financial fortunes, expanding her business and even being nominated for an award.

The chef said Vanilla Zulu Culinary Adventures had been inundated with public support as she attempted to get back on her feet, and had just hired four new staff to cope with demand.
“I feel so proud and so relieved – I can breathe and smile again,” she said.
Mrs Alafaci said she was still working out a payment plan with the ATO, but all other creditors had now been paid off.

The mother of two was also just announced as a finalist in the QLD & NT 2020 AusMumpreneur Awards for product innovation for her gourmet food range, Culinary Bling.
Mrs Alafaci is now looking at offering certification through her classes next year for local and international students wanting to qualify in cooking.
