The owners of acclaimed Brisbane pizzerias Beccofino and Julius are opening their first bar, launching a tiny drinking den in South Brisbane’s new Fish Lane Town Square precinct.
Bar Brutus will move in opposite Julius restaurant in the popular foodie laneway, filling a compact 25sq m tenancy with just eight bar stools.

“It’s really an extension of Julius – it’s a holding bar,” said co-owner Cordell Khoury.
“It’s a place you can grab a drink while waiting for a table.”
The bar will be dark and industrial with marble, timber, black panelling, steel and lots of glass.
In addition to the bar stools, there’ll be a standing area inside and some seating outside at high tables.
“When Julius is pumping there’s just no room for people to wait around, so we just want a place where people can go and still feel like they’re a part of Julius,” Mr Khoury said.
A small snack menu will be on offer including the likes of olives, focaccia and arancini, while the drink list will be tight, featuring a couple of spritzes and negronis, two beers on tap, a handful of Italian red and white wines, and perhaps two cocktails of the day.
Long-time staff member of Julius, Stefan Angelovski is also coming on as partner and will be in charge of running the venue.
Bar Brutus is tipped to open on November 12.
