A SMALL-SCALE Toowoomba chocolate maker has proved he can cut it with the best chocolatiers in the world taking out a string of medals in London’s prestigious Academy of Chocolate Awards.

Trevor Smith from the family run Metiisto Artisan Chocolate in the Darling Downs took out a coveted gold medal for his Patovaki 72% dark chocolate; while his Tenaru 67% dark, Tenaru 58% milk, Patovaki 85% dark, and Raspberry & licorice milk all claimed silver. His Black post 55% milk also scored a bronze.
The Queensland business was the only Australian chocolate manufacturer to win a gold in this year’s awards, which received more than 1000 entries from across the world.

It is the second year in a row Metiisto has won medals in the English competition, having scored three gongs last year.
The chocolate business, which operates from a tiny factory in Toowoomba, sells its award-winning goods to America, France, England, Netherlands, Finland, New Zealand and Australia, and supplies local restaurants, gelato shops and patisseries.
