THE hospitality team behind Brisbane’s popular Asian eateries Madame Wu and Chu the Phat are expanding into Sydney.
Rawgroup Hospitality will launch a replica of their CBD eatery Madame Wu at Circular Quay in a new residential and retail development at Bennelong Point, neighbouring the Sydney Opera House.

“The menu will focus on the finest, freshest seafood and highlight some of our signature dishes, like Moreton Bay bugs with XO sauce,” says executive chef Brendon Barker.
The 250-seat, two-storey restaurant will also boast a dedicated cocktail bar, private dining and wine room and is set to open at the end of next year
BUBBLING OVER
Bubble tea fans are set to spill over with excitement at the news that Victoria’s Gotcha Fresh Tea has launched its first Queensland store at Sunnybank Hills.
Now open at Pinelands Plaza, Gotcha promises teas made fresh to each individual order.
There’s a range of health-conscious tisanes, including collagen and activated charcoal teas, alongside milky teas, fruit teas and more.
THRIFTY SHADES OF GREY
Free vodka anyone? Popular vodka brand Grey Goose is taking over the Gold Coast with a special pop-up bar serving complimentary mini cocktails.
At Pacific Fair shopping centre from October 9-13, the bar will be called Fountain of Goose, featuring a working sculptural fountain.
As well as a free cocktail, visitors will receive a specialty cocktail token to be redeemed at Nineteen at Star Casino and Hideaway Bar, both at Broadbeach.
There will also be performances and experiences throughout the five days.
LONG AND SHORT OF IT
Acclaimed Sunshine Coast fine diner The Long Apron is undergoing a mini-makeover.
The signature restaurant at Spicers Clovelly in Maleny is freshening up with new wallpaper, artwork and seating on the terrace.
It is all part of broader changes at the restaurant, which will see French influences and techniques elevated in the cuisine by chef Chris Hagan, plus the addition of a new champagne menu.
The tweaks coincide with the construction of two new suites at the luxury retreat, with the full reveal to be rolled out next month.
