King of Kings to open new restaurant

An icon of Brisbane’s dining scene for more than 30 years, King of Kings is opening a new restaurant in the city’s south.

Fortitude Valley’s iconic yum cha eatery King of Kings is opening a new venue in Upper Mount Gravatt in Brisbane’s south.

The Chinese restaurant will move in alongside Thai Orchid on Logan Rd, and will feature the brand’s signature dim sum and seafood offering.

Dishes may include favourites like deep-fried whole fish, sizzling beef, sweet and sour pork and prawn dumplings.

Meanwhile, the original restaurant in China Town in the Valley, which opened more than 30 years ago, is currently undergoing a massive makeover after suddenly shutting its doors in February.

A completely new, custom commercial kitchen is being installed at the site, while the dining room will be given a fresh, modern look, with the venue aiming to kick off in the new year.

It was originally scheduled to open in May this year, but numerous building delays have pushed back the launch date.
