BRISBANE’S most glamorous new Asian eatery is set to open this Friday, with the launch of Southside on Fish Lane.
The South Brisbane restaurant from the team behind Rick Shores on the Gold Coast and the now defunct Little Valley in Fortitude Valley, promises East Asian cuisine incorporating Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, Taiwanese and Tibetan flavours, along with influences from South East Asia.

That means hand pulled noodles in three different varieties, plus a dim sum station turning out everything from lobster and chive hargow to chicken wantons.

The share-style menu will move from small plates like a salt and pepper squid sandwich or Sichuan fried chicken to large dishes, such as beef short rib with black bean or Sui Yuk pork belly with native plum.
“[The food is] playful, approachable [and] packed with flavour,” said Southside co-owner David Flynn.
The drink list will also be a hero, with fun cocktails such as a dragonfruit vodka cooler or jasmine and coconut gin sour, alongside wines from across the globe.
Josh Lopez reveals heartbreaking reason for restaurant closure
“We’ve really enjoyed learning about and sharing classic expressions from the great wine regions of the world, and this is a focus,” Mr Flynn said. “[While] our cocktails are bright, unpretentious and approachable, with a lean towards Asian-themed flavours and produce such as South East Asian fruit and Chinese spices.”
Low and no-alcohol options will also be available.
As for the fit-out, expect a “ruined industrial temple” vibe with the terracotta-hued ground floor lined with plants leading out to a spacious outdoor dining area topped with director’s chairs. While upstairs will be slightly sleeker with natural tones.
A private dining room is also available looking through soundproofed glass to the train station across the road.
The venue opens this Friday, and follows the launch of their neighbouring cafe Kiki.
