One of Brisbane’s most famous food families has just raised the steaks at Queen’s Wharf.
The Gambaro Group behind some of Queensland’s most iconic eateries will move into the $3.6 billion Brisbane riverfront development with a classy restaurant to be named Black Hide Steak and Seafood by Gambaro.

The 240-seat restaurant, drawing inspiration from the Gambaro family’s other Brisbane restaurants at Caxton Street and the Star Treasury building, will be among the first venues to open when the long-awaited Queen’s Wharf development officially opens in August.
Black Hide will be located on The Terrace level of the new development, boasting spectacular views of the Brisbane River.
The existing Black Hide restaurant at Treasury will continue to trade until the new venue opens.
The Gambaro Group Director John Gambaro said he was thrilled to be establishing a dining presence at The Star Brisbane at Queen’s Wharf.
“One of the most exciting aspects of our new venue is that we’re bringing along the exceptional team from our existing venue Treasury Brisbane, ensuring a continuing level of guest service excellence,” he said.
“We have made significant enhancements to our menu with the addition of a variety of delicious seafood dishes, featuring fresh Queensland catches to perfectly complement our renowned steak offerings, as well introducing a stylish cocktail lounge bar, where guests can indulge in small plates from our menu while enjoying panoramic views of the river.”
The Star Brisbane Chief Operating Officer Hospitality Kelvin Dodt said he was delighted to continue the successful six-year relationship with the Gambaro Group which started when Black Hide opened in 2018.
“Black Hide is not only a destination dining experience for locals and visitors to Brisbane, but John and his exceptional team have become part of our culinary family,” he said.
The new steak and seafood restaurant joins a belt-loosening menu of dining options already committed to the Queen’s Wharf precinct, including Japanese star Sokyo Brisbane, Luke Nguyen’s Asian street food favourite Fat Noodle, authentic Italian restaurant Cucina Regina, Sky Deck’s Aloria, Babblers and Cicada Blu, live entertainment venue LiveWire and a sports bar.
