An impressive expansion is planned for Brisbane’s iconic Regatta Hotel in Toowong, with the addition of a glam new rooftop terrace.
The owner of the famous watering hole, Australian Venue Co, is seeking approval to expand the beer garden and build a rooftop terrace in the space between the hotel’s heritage building and The Boatshed restaurant along Coronation Dr.
“[The Regatta] still looks good but it needs to evolve as a brand and it’s got a beautiful view of the river and it needs to capitalise on that,” said Australian Venue Co chief operating officer Craig Ellison.
The rooftop terrace would feature uninterrupted river views across the main road outside, while the beer garden would most likely expand into the current carpark area along Sylvan Rd.
The development of the site is part of a huge $53m campaign by AVC to clean up Queensland’s pub scene.
The company, which owns 86 pubs in the Sunshine State and 80 more across Australia and New Zealand, plans to rejuvenate more than 24 venues across Queensland within the next four years.
The plans for The Regatta are yet to be approved, with the renovation not due to start until late this year or early next.
