If you’re upset that the Ekka has been cancelled this year, one of the top showbag outlets are giving fans a chance to win 1000 of the show’s most classic treat. Here’s what you have to do to win.

GOOD news if your big bug about the cancelling of this year’s Ekka was not being able to get a Bertie Beetle showbag.

Showbag Shop is running a competition to win 1000 of the show treats.

All lovers of the showbag pavilion topseller have to do is bake a Bertie Beetle themed, flavoured or inspired creation.

Top prize is 1000 Bertie Beetles but so the baking-challenged don’t miss out there’s a prize for the most epic fail.

And if you don’t want to do the hard yards in the kitchen, Showbag Shop is selling seven Bertie Beetle bags online – just not the budget $2 bag.

“Although the $2 bag is the most talked about, it is not actually our highest selling Bertie Beetle showbag,” Emily Williams from Showbag Shop says.

“The highest sellers are the Bertie Beetle Platinum showbag for $5 and the Bertie Beetle Diamond showbag for $15.

“This is probably because they offer the most Bertie Beetle bang for your buck.”

For serious chocoholics there’s 350 Bertie Beetles for $99 and a Bertie Beetle Super Fan retro bundle that is already selling like hot cakes, complete with limited edition camp mugs, socks and retro tin, all featuring the original 1960s Bertie Beetle logo.

“Grandparents used to the get the Bertie Beetle showbag and passed that tradition on to their children who have now grown up and want to pass on the same tradition to their kids,” Ms Williams said.

Siblings Thomas, Charlotte and Emily Laidsaar were very excited to indulge in a tasty treat come Ekka time, said their father Dustin Laidsaar.

“The kids adore chocolate and get very excited when they get it for a treat,” he said.

The trio scored a showbag last year, and may be lucky enough to get another one, he said.

“They’ve seen the show bags advertised and are already begging to get one, so may get a surprise bag each soon,” he said.
