Truth behind ‘wolf’ trader’s elaborate proposal

It was the elaborate marriage proposal of helicopters, sparking diamonds and private jets, but not everything was as it seemed.

Tyson Scholz's life of luxury

It’s the extraordinary jetsetting marriage proposal that wasn’t.

Wannabe “wolf” share trader Tyson Scholz has been caught out after posting video footage showcasing an elaborate proposal to his long-term partner Sophie Lee Anderson featuring helicopter tours, dazzling diamonds and private jets.

The video featured footage of Scholz, who is under investigation from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission over allegations he operated as an unlicensed financial Adviser, on-board a private jet, supposedly because “Jetstar unfortunately wouldn’t fly my ring up so had to use air wolf (sic)”.

The video attracted the attention of Queensland Police after it was discovered the controversial Gold Coast trader had made no recent applications for a border pass.

The Sunday Mail understands Scholz was interviewed by police this week over the private jet footage.

He told officers the jet footage was old and he had not left Queensland for months.

Under current Queensland entry regulations, anyone wishing to enter the state must complete a border application and test negative to Covid up to 72 hours before entry.

Officers inspected his phone and found time stamps to confirm he had not left the state recently.

Acting Chief Superintendent Rhys Wildman from Gold Coast police confirmed officers had spoken to Scholz, but no crime had been committed.

“There was no offence,” he said.

It is understood the marriage proposal instead featured a helicopter tour to the Gold Coast hinterland.

Scholz did not respond to requests for comment at the time of publication.

It’s not the first time Scholz’s social media videos have attracted police attention – earlier this year he was charged for allegedly using a mobile phone while operating a motorbike while a Lamborghini was impounded last year after video posted by Scholz showed the speedometer reaching breakneck speeds through suburban streets.

The 36-year-old, who markets himself on social media as “ASX Wolf”, regularly posts videos and photos showing a life of luxury and huge stockmarket trades.

He made headlines last year when a luxury Lamborghini he claimed to have paid almost $300,000 for was impounded by police for hooning.

He later admitted the car was leased and he owned only the number plates.

Scholz is due to front court next year on a number of matters – including driving and boating charges, while he has been ordered to stop promoting stock market and financial tips on social media as ASIC continues its investigation into allegations he charged up to $1500 for seminars and membership packages without holding an Australian financial services license.

Scholz has denied any wrongdoing, and has said that financial advice was not given as part of the course.

Last year he was embroiled in a bitter business dispute with his mother where he was ordered to pay her more than $700,000 over a soured Subway restaurant investment.

Scholz, who told lawyers for his mother he was unemployed and living on Centrelink payments, eventually reached an out-of-court settlement.
