‘Wolf’ trader Tyson Scholz’s marriage proposal as legal issues mount

A controversial Gold Coast share trader who made headlines when a Lamborghini he claimed to have bought with cash was impounded by police for hooning offences has shrugged off mounting legal problems with an extravagant marriage proposal.

Tyson Scholz's life of luxury

Controversial Gold Coast share trader Tyson Scholz hasn’t let his mounting legal problems get in the way of a lavish marriage proposal, including private jets, helicopter flights and a sparkling diamond ring.

Scholz, 36, is under investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and his property was last month raided by Federal Police over his suspected links to Sydney stockbrokers Everblu Capital and cannabis company Cresa Pharma.

ASIC is also investigating Scholz over allegations he charged clients up to $1500 to attend financial seminars and receive membership packages without holding an Australian financial services license.

Scholz has denied any wrongdoing, and has said that financial advice was not given as part of the course.

He is also due to face court over driving and boating charges.

Scholz was last year ordered to pay his mother more than $750,000 over a soured business deal, but negotiated an out-of-court settlement after it was revealed he was actually on the dole living on Centrelink payments.

However, Scholz, who has denied any wrongdoing in the ASIC investigations, has shrugged off the drama by posting a video of his engagement to long-term girlfriend Sophie Lee Anderson.

In the video, uploaded to Scholz’s Instagram, the loved-up couple take a private helicopter flight and enjoy a series of celebrations showing off a sparkling diamond ring.

Scholz also takes a flight on a private jet, writing on the post that “Jetstar unfortunately wouldn’t fly my ring up so had to use air wolf (sic)”.

Scholz refers to himself as “ASX Wolf” in social media accounts and came to prominence last year when a Lamborghini he claimed to have bought with cash was impounded by police for hooning offences.

He later admitted the car was leased and he owned only the number plate.

In his legal battle against his mother, he argued that his social media posts of fast cars and luxury boats were about “maintaining the lifestyle” of a corporate high-flyer and that he had “expensive tastes”.

He also presented as evidence copies of his fortnightly cheques from Centrelink.

Scholz was due to have faced the Federal Court in Brisbane last Friday over ASIC’s order to cease “promoting or carrying on any financial services business in Australia”.

However, in the days before the planned hearing he consented to restraining “from promoting or carrying on a financial services business in Australia, until further notice.”

The case has been adjourned until next year.

Scholz has been contacted for comment.
