Hunters Hill Hotel

12.5/20

Modern Australian$$

Rising like Noah's ark above the busy highway, this pub offers every facility a pub should. A blend of Art Deco and modern features creates welcoming spaces despite its two levels. A stunning beer garden buzzes under soft lighting. Big plates of food whizzing by created high expectations that weren't met: a generous topping of overcooked poached salmon and prawns couldn't save a mayonnaise-coated salad missing its lemon and chilli kick and a bitter tomato sauce ruined hand-crumbed schnitzel, but the beer-battered chips are fantastic. Aged grain-fed beef from NSW and Queensland is the hero, our rump with pepper sauce overcooked but still tasty.
