The graceful dining room and old-fashioned service here are complemented by a simple menu of steaks, soup, schnitzels and fish and chips. Locals come for the $10.50 specials. There is a sprinkling of more inspiring dishes such as field mushroom parmigiana and a beef, mushroom and red wine pot pie. The hotel's signature dish, Balmoral chicken ($19.90), came in a creamy mushroom, bacon and shallot sauce. Servings are generous and while the food is nothing terribly special, it is hearty, fresh and good value.
