Blackburn's Family Hotel

13/20

Contemporary$$

This is a Katoomba institution. It's the place for politics and poetry in the pub and if you're really lucky, entertainment by a famous pianist-cum-astrologer. It also serves up half-decent pub lunches and dinners. There's a gracious old dining room with old-fashioned service to match - fast and friendly. Standard fare of steaks, burgers and pasta is enlivened by the addition of barramundi, pork loin chops with apple and mint sauce and a pot of buttery garlic prawns. There's a dessert board and soup of the day, a $10.50 daily special and the pleasant hum at lunchtime of tables filling up with locals and passersby.
