As drab as this end of Victoria Street is, it's within strolling distance of the MCG and it would be quite acceptable to wander in here after a match in your barracking gear. The simple interior is lifted by a row of box shelves dotted with books, toys and ceramic vessels. Generous noodle soups, grilled pork sausages and sugarcane prawns are among the highlights. But to really blow away the post-game blues, look to prawn and calamari som tum, where fiery spices are tempered by refreshing shreds of green papaya, or pork stir-fry with peppery, zesty lime leaves.
