Cibi
Japanese$$
The walls boast prints of Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe, the fittings are of smart repurposed wood, the mismatched vintage chairs scream shabby chic: there's a lot going on in this Japanese cafe, but it works. The studied eclecticism extends to the menu, too, which offers uniquely Japanese takes on western fare: breakfast might feature baked salmon and seaweed, or eggs folded omelette-style in a dashi stock. Soba noodles here are nothing like your traditionally austere zaru variety, instead forming the base of a tart, citrusy salad with firm tofu morsels. The adjoining studio showcases original art and wares from Nippon.
