Enter Via Laundry bound for Mornington Peninsula
After a six-month stint in Monbulk, pop-up restaurant Enter Via Laundry is laying foundations at a second semi-permanent home. Avani Winery on the Mornington Peninsula will play host to chef-founder Helly Raichura and her regional Indian degustations for two months, starting in August.
Raichura is excited to cook at Avani, founded in Red Hill by winemaker Sashi Singh. "Sashi and I share many similarities in our story," she says. "We both come from India and migrated to Australia. We both changed our careers and found passion in food and wine later in our lives. We both at some point have been young mums trying to make a difference in the Australian food scene while raising a family."
Food-wise, Raichura's menus will continue to explore India's pre- and post-colonial history in regional dishes that incorporate native Australian ingredients. Expect Jerusalem artichoke korma with truffle and Dutch cream kochuri (deep-fried stuffed bread) on the side, and the Gujarati snack of bajra vada, this time flavoured with three-corner garlic and paired with desert lime achar and kefir butter.
Avani will, naturally, be taking care of matched wines; non-alcoholic options will also be offered.
August 14-September 26, $188 a head for 17-course degustation; $75 for wine pairing, 98 Stanleys Road, Red Hill South, entervialaundry.com.au
