The fire that swept through Nomad restaurant last month left an A-list restaurant team without a home, so owner Al Yazbek is shifting his crew a couple of hundred metres up the road.

"We'll open November 1 and be there for three months," the restaurateur explains.

Initially he had hoped to reopen on Foster Street before Christmas, but that has been pushed out.

"We're hoping the end of the first quarter, March maybe," he says.

While investigations into the fire continue, it's looking more likely the cause was electrical and started in the Nomad office, not near the wood fire oven. Regardless, more than 500 kilograms of meat was destroyed.

Yazbek will ship in art and Nomad kitchen signatures to the temporary site at Longrain.

"We've been amazed by the offers of support from the industry during it all," Yazbek says.
