Entire families are feared dead in the White Island volcano disaster, as details slowly filter in from across the Tasman of the fate of 24 Australians killed and injured.

Several families holidaying with their children are among those still missing, including the family of senior Santos engineer Lisa Dallow, whose husband Gavin and daughter Zoe Hosking, 15, are missing.
