Trump under pressure to tackle China’s DeepSeek
The president said US industries need to be “laser focused” on winning the AI race. But he also faces calls for a tighter export ban on American chips to China.
Washington | Donald Trump was surprisingly relaxed about China’s new budget AI player that triggered a global stock market panic over a perceived threat to US dominance of the emerging technology.
Trump, known for his fiery rhetoric and reactions, refrained from slapping a ban on DeepSeek over national security fears, although officials were looking at the risks, as the Chinese company’s budget breakthrough sparked a $US1 trillion ($1.6 trillion) bloodbath on Wall Street.
