San Francisco | TikTok stopped working in the United States and disappeared from Apple and Google app stores hours before a law took effect on Sunday (AEDT) requiring the shutdown of the app used by 170 million Americans.
Chinese-owned TikTok told users attempting to use the app late on Saturday (Sunday AEDT): “A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the US. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use TikTok for now.”
