Trudeau describes failed bid at quiet diplomacy with Modi over murder
Ottawa | Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he only went public with a murder allegation involving India’s government after a lengthy behind-the-scenes effort to diplomatically address the matter was rejected by Indian officials.
He said Canadian officials had first sought co-operation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government “in a responsible way” that didn’t “blow up the relationship between Canada and India”, especially as India had been about to host the G20 leaders summit.
