Polymath economist Dr Horace “Woody” Brock is probably the only high-society Harvard and Princeton intellect that the late media baron Kerry Packer ever had time for.

When the two met in 2003, the precocious Brock, who earned his five degrees by the age of 29, told Packer what he thought about luck.
